How effective is Facebook in generating business? As you might surmise, there isn’t one answer fits all because it depends on expectations – both real and perceived.
What is definite is that Facebook marketing can boost your sales and push product “out the door.” It may never replace your website platform, but it can act as a catalyst to ROI and work as a complement to your other marketing efforts. Most companies don’t care where their sales come from but they are mindful not to leave money on the table. That’s why it is essential to bring product to where your target customers are online. And today, Facebook is where they are staying for chunks of time.

Marketers need to adjust to the demands of the marketplace. Today’s younger generation are further distancing themselves from us older “geeks” by redefining how they look or view the world. One obvious example is the Social Revolution that began in Tunis, energized in Egypt and spread to the entire Arab world.
Today’s youth is increasingly being served their information through Facebook and Twitter and less and less through other more traditional media such as blogs and broadcast news. Does this mean that Facebook is going to replace blogs among the younger generation?

You’ve heard the stories about “man bites dog.” Well how about the latest headline grabber: “Social Media bites back!” Here is the story of one company that brands and markets itself with a simple burger.
Recently I was in New York City visiting my tech savvy son. Taking a stroll through the canyons of Manhattan we decided to grab lunch. Choices overwhelmed the senses in this food-fad city. Knowing I do online marketing, he suggested a new and novel fast food joint that serves healthy meals with a social media marketing emphasis. I was hooked.

Google PageRank has been a gold standard for SEO. Website owners and marketers are obsessed with it because it is one of the most visible ranking factors in measuring the effectiveness of their SEO efforts.
However, with over 200 ranking factors, Google has stated that webmasters should concentrate more on creating relevant content and improving conversion rates for best PageRank results.
Is Google Changing the PageRank Formula?
Google is now ranking documents based on user behavior and / or feature data. What this means is that previously each link on a page was given the same about of link juice or target page authority. However, now every link is being weighted by behavioral action of how likely a surfer would click on that link. Thus link visibility (placement and appearance) and link relevance will be of primary importance.
The “old school” methods of link building will not be as effective. Submitting your blog and multiple articles to several directories, or submitting links to several social bookmarking sites will not significantly impact PageRank. We believe this is a result of a change in the PageRank formula.
